I know fucking loads of people who've been to Thailand, male and female, and I'd say only about half of them have ever said anything about using prostitutes.

From my understanding (admittedly/thankfully very little) the whole "mail order bride" thing where British blokes hook up with Thai women and bring them back to the UK is very much a sellers market, as is prostitution in general over there.
I'm not saying this means that exploitation/nonces/whatever don't happen, or that it makes the blokes involved any less sad or whatever, but it's not like it's a whole industry based on exploitation and poverty and slavery like people are making out here.

I'm sure that foreign money has priced some people out of some places, but the people who benefit from that are Thai. Both the people catering to the foreigners and the land owners.

And mail order bride is a stupid expression. It suggests you are buying a slave which is not the case at all. Meeting people through agencies is common all over the world.
